Artist's Description
Mabry Mill, a popular tourist attraction , is a water mill along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Built by Edwin Mabry in 1903, it was used as a blacksmith and wheelwright shop, a sawmill and in 1905 was operated as a gristmill. The site also serves as a historical exhibit about life in rural Virginia.
About Jo Ann Gregg
Born in New Jersey but transplanted to Florida at the age of three, I now reside in Jensen Beach, Florida. I consider myself an opportunistic photographer, attracted by the composition of nature: green leaves against the bright blue sky, a yellow leaf floating on the dark water of a stream - colors, textures, patterns, light and shadow, or an unexpected encounter. As I continue to study the art of photography, I try to find new ways to highlight and show the beauty of nature. I also find enjoyment in the creative aspect of digital-editing, taking photography in a new or unexpected direction. I appreciate your visit to my site and hope you enjoy my photographs. Should you feel a special affinity to one of my images, they are...

Loved both of your entries in the Which do you Prefer contest but voted for this one because of the overall composition!
Jo Ann Gregg replied:
Thank you for your comments. I was a very interesting contest and I am happy for the feedback.
Kay Brewer
I voted this image in the Which Do You Prefer contest. I think this wider angle version shows the beautiful scenery and that interesting gristmill better than the closer version. LF
Jo Ann Gregg replied:
Thank you Kay. It's the one I prefer also. It's good to get a second opinion.
Jurgen Lorenzen
