Artist's Description
The golden lion tamarin, also known as the golden marmoset, is a small monkey, native to Brazil. These tamarins inhabit lowland coastal rain forest which have tangles of vines and bromeliads. They use the vines to travel between trees. The bromeliads attract insects and amphibians, which are an excellent source of protein and fats. Golden lion tamarins are omnivores, eating a wide variety of fruits, insects and other invertebrates, as well as small vertebrates and bird eggs. With more and more of the rainforest being destroyed, the golden lion tamarin is an endangered species. If anyone is interested, there is a US organization working with a Brazilian nonprofit to save these unique animals. (See below)
Save the Golden Lion Tamarin (SGLT) is a U.S.-based public charity that provides technical and financial support to help Associação Mico-Leão-Dourado achieve our shared vision of saving GLTs and the habitat they depend upon for survival.

About Jo Ann Gregg
Born in New Jersey but transplanted to Florida at the age of three, I now reside in Jensen Beach, Florida. I consider myself an opportunistic photographer, attracted by the composition of nature: green leaves against the bright blue sky, a yellow leaf floating on the dark water of a stream - colors, textures, patterns, light and shadow, or an unexpected encounter. As I continue to study the art of photography, I try to find new ways to highlight and show the beauty of nature. I also find enjoyment in the creative aspect of digital-editing, taking photography in a new or unexpected direction. I appreciate your visit to my site and hope you enjoy my photographs. Should you feel a special affinity to one of my images, they are...
