On this peaceful early morning at Indian Riverside Park in Jensen Beach, Florida, a Royal Poinciana tree takes center stage as the sun's first rays highlight its magnificent red flowers.
The Royal Poinciana, native to Madagascar, is also called flamboyant or flame tree. This colorful tree provides dappled shade in summer, with wide, spreading branches and brilliantly-colored flowers. Many people consider this to be one of the most beautiful trees in the world.
Born in New Jersey but transplanted to Florida at the age of three, I now reside in Jensen Beach, Florida. I consider myself an opportunistic photographer, attracted by the composition of nature: green leaves against the bright blue sky, a yellow leaf floating on the dark water of a stream - colors, textures, patterns, light and shadow, or an unexpected encounter. As I continue to study the art of photography, I try to find new ways to highlight and show the beauty of nature.
